French Door Curtains

in Door Curtain

Those of us that have glass doors particularly french doors have several options to dress them up and make they look lovely and inviting. Well not too inviting because the purpose of french door curtains is for style and also for a little privacy. People with contemporary designed homes might prefer shades instead of curtains but since the beginning appropriate way to window dress them has been by using fabric especially curtains. A little bit of a search will lead you to all kinds of styles some of which look very nice. I especially love the sheer volie fabric and with a tieback. That in my opinion is the best choice for two reasons the first is sheer will give you privacy but it will not obstruct your beautiful door. It will also allow the sunlight to entire your home freely.

Curtains can be installed on single french doors is the easiest of ways. The curtains usually come with two rods, one that goes on top and the other on bottom. These rod pockets are what supports the fabric and it’s really as simple as that because after install the rod pocket you slide the fabric over the rod. What’s important is the distance you want to stretch the curtain but you don’t want to over do it because the pressure might cause it rip or break from the pocket rod. French doors with two window panels are essentially the same but with 4 rod pockets and two curtains. Some people install the rod pocket right above the window panel but others increase the distance. Whatever you decide it is best to decide before you buy the french door window curtains because if not you might have to return them if the are too long or if they are too short. Most retailers will offer you a choice of seven different lengths, so this shouldn’t be a probably. Just make sure to use the measuring tape before ordering, the length of sizes are usually 84″, 72″, 63″, 40″ and 36″.

Sheer is not the only fabric people choose. Some prefer colorful colorful fabrics and patterns such as black sturbridge and other plaid patterns. Admittedly they look quite beautiful and there is nothing wrong with having either sheer or a plaid fabric. One thing is certain if your want the bring out the best of your doors then styling them with french door curtain panels is the way to go. Shades in this situation are just too bland and they don’t make the doors look more appealing.
